Ferrari F40 GT AT A GLANCE

intro_f40gt

The Ferrari F40 is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car that was designed by Pininfarina and engineered by Nicola Materazzi. It was first presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1987 and was produced in Maranello until 1992. The F40 was created to commemorate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary and was envisioned as the successor to the 288 GTO – which was also engineered by Materazzi – and was the last Ferrari automobile personally approved by Enzo Ferrari.

Michelotto turned seven road going F40’s into racing versions known as the F40 GT. The F40 GT is not as mad as the F40 LM, but that was done so it could compete in the Italian GT Championship. The F40 CSAI-GT feature Brembo brakes, lighter carbon fiber bodies (1,050kg), full uni-ball suspension, quick-fill fuel system, flat floors with cooling ducts, fire system, plexi-glas sliding windows, wider Speedline wheels, reduced height by 5cm.

The upgraded engine produced 590 bhp instead of the standard 478 bhp. The car debuted in the 1993 Italian Supercar Championship and it finished sixth overall. Driver Vittorio Colombo managed to win the 1994 season.

Don’t miss this chance to experience the thrill of pure adrenaline and unparalleled engineering artistry.

MAGNESIUM WHEELS

The Ferrari F40 GT is equipped with distinctive OZ Racing Magnesium wheels, made from lightweight magnesium and finished in classic black. These 17-inch wheels, paired with full slick Dunlop and Michelin tires, offer exceptional grip and responsive handling. Compared to the original F40, this model features larger Brembo brakes engineered for superior performance, with calipers and rotors designed to handle the intense heat and stress of high-speed driving.

MINIMALIST PERFORMANCE FOCUSED MASTERPIECE

The interior of the Ferrari F40 GT is a minimalist masterpiece, designed to enhance the car’s performance-focused nature and driver-centric experience. The cockpit is dominated by a set of lightweight and supportive racing seats made of carbon fiber. The dashboard is also minimalist in design, with only a handful of gauges and switches. The F40 GT’s steering wheel is a racing-style unit – made of lightweight materials as well.

The F40 GT’s interior also features a roll cage that’s integrated into the body of the car. This roll cage not only provides additional protection for the driver and passenger but also adds to the car’s structural rigidity, improving handling and stability.

UPGRADED ENGINE

The Ferrari F40 GT, a formidable evolution of the standard F40, boasts an upgraded engine that underscores its superior performance capabilities. Anchored by a light alloy block and head, the GT variant enhances the original 2.9 L engine, stretching power output to an impressive 590 bhp at 7,500 rpm and maintaining robust torque.

Key enhancements include a bore and stroke of 82.0 mm and 69.5 mm respectively, coupled with a compression ratio fine-tuned to 8.0:1. The valvetrain is equipped with 4 valves per cylinder and a DOHC setup, ensuring efficient airflow within the engine. Fuel is precisely delivered through a Weber-Marelli injection system, and lubrication is managed by a high-performance dry sump system.

Aspiration is dramatically boosted by two IHI turbochargers, each paired with a Behr intercooler, optimizing the engine’s thermal efficiency and output. These upgrades not only boost power but also refine the GT’s ability to deliver high-revving performance, seamlessly paired with a five-speed manual transmission for a truly exhilarating driving experience.
